Traditional Cedar Bluebird Nesting Box

Inside measurements: Approximately 5.25” - 5.5” by 4” - 4.25”.

Vent Holes: 8 - 1/2”vent holes. 4 on each side at the top of the nesting box and just above the nesting area. This creates a better air flow and will help keep the inside of the nesting box cooler in the hotter months.

Entrance Hole: 1 1/2” with predator guard.

* Cedar wood construction, so these boxes will last for years. All of the nesting boxes have been constructed using nails and Titebond III glue.

* All of the wood has been sanded and coated with Thompson's® WaterSeal® Clear Multi-Surface Water Repellenter. (Exterior Only)

* Opening side door with latch to keep the door secure, while allowing for the nesting boxes to be easily cleaned after nesting season. The top of the door has been rounded over for easier opening. Triple coated deck screws are used as the pivot point (hinge) of the clean out door.

Selecting a Location:

Bluebird nesting boxes should be mounted approximately 5 feet off the ground. Nesting boxes should be mounted securely facing away from prevailing winds in the area to prevent rain from entering the box. Whenever possible, place the house in a clearing with tall grasses or shrubbery 8-12 feet away.

Don’t be discouraged if birds don’t begin nesting in the house immediately. Sometimes it takes time for the birds to discover them. For optimum occupancy, place your nest boxes by February in southern areas and mid to late March in northern regions.

**Disclaimer: Cedar wood varies greatly in color and grain patterning. This makes each nesting box’s color and patterning unique.**
